Established in 1954, BISE Lahore is the largest and oldest Pakistan Education Board in Pakistan. BISE Lahore hosts over 2 million students every year and successfully organizes their exams. All other education boards in Lahore are affiliated with BISE Lahore, but the mainstream of education is still BISE.

The Intermediate and Secondary Education Board is much better than other boards in Pakistan. When it was established in 1954, the Commission inherited a vast territorial jurisdiction to conduct examinations in Punjab, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir and the Northern Territory (now Gilgit-Baltistan). To accommodate overseas candidates, BISE has also set up test centres in Kuwait and Nairobi (Kenya). The Boards is now limited to the Lahore branch and Okara, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib areas.

BISE Lahore conducts 10th and intermediate examinations in Lahore to approximately 2 million students according to a defined schedule. Generally, BISC Lahore organizes exams for regular and private students in Years 9, 10, Matric and SSC. Exams for regular students and private students are held separately.
